We started with a quiz on writing equations of transformed functions. Then we investigated x=y^2 and x^2 + y^2 = 25. Then we finished our Parent Graph toolkits. Homework: Ch2: 146-152 due Monday.

Okay...so...I'm a little behind...sorry!! Here are some notes from the past two weeks... Here is the work we started today. Ok so...I messed up when assigning homework today...here are the problems you need to do from chapter 2: 107-109, 111, 115-116, 119, 125-128, 131 We started by looking at exponent rules to help with #18&19. Then we investigated how changing parameters of a quadratic function changes the graph. This led to the graphing form. Remember the chapter one test on Thursday. Homework: 22-29, 35,40 Today we started with the shrinking targets lab where we learned how to use the calculator to do a quadratic regression. Then we added notes and exponential functions. Homework: Ch1: 119-128, Ch2: 5-9,17-21 due Tuesday. We started class with a review of linear equations and came up with a web that looked similar to this: Then, in groups, we completed problems 99-103 to remind ourselves on how linear equations work. Then we investigated the function in problem 111 using the notes we took on function investigations from last class. We took a gallery walk to review the functions of the form y=1/(x-h) that we worked with last class. Then, we took a quiz over this idea.
Homework: 104-110, 113, 114 (Skip 108). Today we started investigating functions by looking at the family y=1/(x-h). We also developed a list of things to include in our investigations. We then discussed asymptotes and looked at how the asymptotes changed as we changed the value of h. Here are the notes we took: We finished class looking at y=1/(x+25) which surprised us by moving left instead of right like many of us predicted. Homework is 84-87-all and 89-97-odds (or in other words, 84-97 skip 88,90,92,94,96) We started class by investigating intersecting functions (1-41). We then completed our notes on finding intersections. We then took a quiz over function notation, domain and range, and intersections. Homework: Ch1: 59-77, skip 63, 68-70, 73, 74, 77. Graded: Ch 1: 12-17, 20-23, 25 Continued our investigation of functions from 1-10. After sharing our investigations with the class, we took notes on Domain and Range. We then went back to our function exploration and complete the domain and range for each function.
Finally, we started looking at finding intersections between functions and took notes on using the graphing calculator to find the intersection from the graph. Turned in: Ch 1: 4-9
